Red, White and Boom! is the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board's annual Independence Day fireworks event with stage programming on Nicollet Island.

Viewing tips

  • Nicollet Island lawn faces the launch barge directly.
  • Stone Arch Bridge provides an elevated downstream view but closes at 90% capacity.

Transit and parking

  • Metro Transit routes 3 and 25 reroute around the riverfront.
  • Northstar Commuter Rail Big Lake line resumes at 10:30pm.
  • Boom Island lots fill by 7pm; Plymouth Avenue overflow lot is the best fallback.
  • East Hennepin Avenue closes between 1st Ave and the river starting 5pm.
